The last two times I have been to the dentist for a filling, the numbness from the novocane does not go away. The first time, one whole side of my face and my tongue were number for 6 months. I went again yesterday and my tongue is still numb. What is causing this. My dentist said that there are a lot of nerves and if a nerve is hit with the novocane it could cause problems with the numbness not going away. He said this only happens in a very few people. But it has happened to my twice now - I think this is a little odd. Also, my jaw has been in an unusual amount of pain since my filling last night. Any suggestions?!

It sounds like you're just one of those people who really 'take' to novicaine. Maybe next time have the dentist use something else?
