Hi everyone. I was wondering, has anyone out there had any bad experiences with mirena IUD? I had mine put in back in Sept; went through lots of hair loss, sciatic pain, VERY moody and anxiety problems, bad skin. Now, January, still have irregular bleeding (I go maybe four or five days a months w/o bleeding...) with this bleeding comes sciatic pain down the left leg; pain in lower right side, increased when bleeding....had abdominal and pelvic CT scan...everything was normal...Doc is now sending me for upper lower GI series, as well as GYN exam...appt is not til end of net month...cant take the stress anymore...possible diagnosis of IBS< but no bm irregularities unless very stressed. Does anyone go through this? Has IUD been known to cause gyn problems?

Hi, I'm new and do not have an IUD (I was actually thinking of getting one).

But I have Endometriosis and have pain that shoots down my leg as a result of that. I have a lot of pain in my lower back and pelvic bones or hips around the time of my period. Have you or your doctor thought about checking for Endo? I believe the only way they can see the endo is through laproscoptic surgery. It might be worth checking out....

i had an iud and over time started have increasingly bad pelvic pain, severe cramps around my period... i too, had ultradsounds and CT scans and the iud was fine, but they did find cysts and masses that along with my symptoms went hand in hand with Endo. i had the IUD removed and i am now on the pill and feel SO MUCH better. i didn't go through with the actual laproscopy since my symptoms are now under control, but if these issues started on the iud, it might be worth getting it out and tryining a horomonal form to regulate things down there and see if that helps.
