about a month ago my knee started to be sore (i`m a basketballer) anyway i kept playing for 2 weeks through the pain. Eventually i went to see a physio 2 weeks ago and went a few times and the last time i went was over a week ago. it turned out i had tendonitis it got aolot better but its still a bit sore in a localised section and won`t go away. I have been doing what the physio told me ie ice and stretch. Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of this last little bit of the injury? Thanks sorry 4 the long post.
PS Since doing the stretching my left quadricep is much more flexible then my right and now i have to even them up.

First of all, I'm not a doctor. But I recall my Doctor telling me once that stretched or torn tendons take a LONG time to heal - much longer than muscle tears. Take it easy on the injured tendon. Take an anti-inflamatory like ibuprofen, aspirin, or naproxen (Aleve). But take it around the clock - don't stop until the pain has healed. It may be 2 to 3 weeks or longer. My favorite is ibuprofin. I take it in higher doses - 600 mg. or 3 pills (get a generic brand since it's cheaper). Acetaminophen (Tylenol) won't help because it's not an anti-inflamatory. :)

Get a referral to a physical therapist. He will do modalities of heat with moist heat or hydrotherapy, cold pack and/or cryotherapy, electrical stimulation, soft tissue moblization, and he might even use dexamethazone if the pain persists. He will also have you doing stretching and strenghtening exercises to increase your mobility. You may have some shortened muscles and he will help you work on that also. You will probably need to be seen 2 to 3 times a week for 2 to 4 weeks and if you do exactly what he says and do all the exercises faithfully by how many times a day he states, you should get back to the way you were or even better. Hot and cold packs and stretching are your best friends. Get this taken care of so that it does not turn into chronic tendonitis which is just that, chronic, there forever.......
