i recently had my IUD removed and wondered if the headaches and bloating i have are a withdrawal from the hormone. i know because it was an IUD the hormone wasn't going thru me or my blood. it's almost like clock work, later afternoons i get the headache and the bloating!

other than those 2 things, i am very happy i had it removed!!;)

i didnt ask her anything in detail nor did she offer anything in return. she had an emergency surgery with her partner as well. all she said was that all of the side effects i was having with the IUD would soon go away.

If it was the Mirena IUD, those are normal withdrawal side effects. It happens to a lot of women after stopping hormonal birth control. I experienced headaches, nausea, sore boobs, backaches & cramps throughout my first couple cycles off the pill. In addition, don't freak if your next period is a bit late...it can take awhile for your body to recover from the hormones. I didn't have bloating getting off the pill, but I think that was because the pill caused me to bloat up hugely to begin with, but I know a lot of women get this. My side effects got a lot better once I had my first period off the pill. Good luck to you!

I'm not sure how the Mirena works. I did have a withdrawal bleed (spotting, short pill-like period) about 5 days after stopping the pill since I stopped mid-pack. That is not a real period, it is caused by withdrawing the hormones from your body. I'm not sure if something similar happens when the Mirena is taken out or not. Then, my first real period off the pill came 35 days after the withdrawal bleed.

Hi,

I was on depo which has the same hormones as mirena and it took about 3 months for all the side effects to wear off. But keep in mind with the depo i had a full dose with each shot where with mirena it's released in small doses. So i wanna say that you will probably have a few weeks left for side effects. I hope you feel better soon
