Hi all,
Ok I think you know you have a problem when others have also noticed it.
Mt problem - not sure where it started or how, etc, i'm preety sure it was since I started university though.
I have always always been a very organised person, which many would say and I would agree with, is only a positive aspect of someone. The problem begins when you cannot control it anymore.
When i started university my dad bought me a diary, a very nice pink one, very expensive. As much as I loved my new diary I had never kept one before and because of its expense I felt obliged to have to use it. This soon became a problem!
Before, i'd use s few post it notes to remind me of important things I had to do, and I mean "important" things only.
Soon, after I had begun using my new diary I was writing in all the things I needed to remember to do aswell as other things such as to clean out my hamster or even clean my room or wash my hair - yes I know bad isn't!
Although I would never forget to do any of the things naturally I did have this strong tendency to have to write EVERYTHING down just incase I wouold forget and let someone else or myself down!
5 years on and guess what - it's still here. I bought myself a new phone and my main concern was that it would have one of those reminder facilities on it. Not until this did my parents get involved, my phone was flashing, beeping or vibrating every second because id filled it with reminders. I had months worth! I never wanted to see a doctor and so one morning I just completely got rid of everything! It felt so good!
Then, little things eventually crept back into my mind and I was scared i'd forget birhtdays etc, until I was back to square one. Now I have a diray for work (because I have to have one-the company provide it) and a personal one (because the last work diary i filled with personal "to do's" and realised i would have to hand it back at the end of the year (which i still havent done as im so scared).
I am starting to loose my tither with this. What's worse is as much as i am soooooo excited about this year as im just in process of buying a house, my brothers having a baby etc etc, it all kinda gets too much for me to cope with as i always come up with things i MUST remember!.
Help!
My dad knows a very nice hypno. does anyone think this would work!?

I don't know about the hypno. I have never tried, but I do know meditation and cognitive behavioral therapy will help. I would consider trying one or both of those options first and see how that works out for ya. I can uderstand hwo you have taken this to a new level, but understand that a certain amount of organization is not bad. I think you just need to draw a line and decide what is really important and what isn't. CBT and meditation can help you sort this out.

Good luck,
OE
