Hi, someone suggested taking magnesium may be beneficial for a diabetic to take as a supplement. I was wondering how would this help and what dose would be good to take. Any ideas would be appreciated. THANkS!!!:p

I don't know if Mg helps with glucose control or not. The thing to be careful of though is that you should never take minerals if you have any sort of kidney damage. If you have kidney problems, the minerals can build up in your system and become toxic.

Good luck to you.

Magnesium will help muscle cramps, help sleep and reduce anxiousness but will not make you drowsy. I take 125mg at least 3 times daily . Also take Vit B12 and Co enzyme Q10 as there are some drugs which cause a lack of these in the body.:)

hi all----went for another counseling session for my diabetes as the stress I was under had my readings going up and down like crazy. physicians assistant who does my PCP's counseling told me since I had no appetite I was not eating anywhere near enough food. wasn't eating the wrong things just not enough of anything. she recommended a shake and meal replacement bars recommended for diabetics as they are made with stevia. also since I have a soy allergy they are soy free. Since i am having a hard time eating I grab a shake in the morning and sometimes later for a snack .can have them for meals with a plate of salad or steamed veg, string chees, a hard boiled egg, piece of fruit. it has made it easier for me to eat again. also on the vitamins she told me that since i can't take a multiple (allergic to the dyes) to take seperate ones. recommended Bcomplex, E, C, Calcium and Magnesium, and told me the chromium is one of the best minerals for regulating glucose. I eat greens raw and cooked out the whazoo so i don't worry about potassium and magnesium that much. just my story.
