I'm a 24 year old female, who, until November 2006 was in good health with the exception of kidney stones.
I started having left side chest pain and left shoulder pain and went to the ER, where they did an EKG which came out fine. The pain continued and I started having bad muscle pain all over, in my arms, jaw, ribs, and upper back. I've also had tingling on the left side of my face, hands and feet. I saw a Cardiologist who did an EKG and a Stress Test and Echocardiogram, all of which they said were normal.
I've never had pain in my ribs before, and it's on both sides, even going into my back. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I have has saline breast implants since 2002.
I've had pain in my knees, thighs (on the side, right near the knee), and under my arms and down my side on both sides.
All this random pain is very new, it feels like it just came out of nowhere.
Could this be fibro or is it something else?
Any help is appreciated :)

The bad muscle pains could be fibro but it still could be anything. The best thing to do is try to get a referral to a rheumy. Fibro is a dx of exclusion and your on your way to excluding alot of things.

I have to make an appointment with the Rheumy tomorrow. My primary Dr. gave me Cymbalta and said I should start taking them for Fibro.
I just want to make sure that's what it really is, and no one is missing anything.
This is a list of tests that I've had
EKG
2 Echocardiograms
Stress Test (no dye)
EMG
EEG
MRI of Brain
MRI of Thoracic and Cervical Spine
CT Scan of Stomach
Chest X Ray
My pain isn't all over my body all at once, but my knees and my back will hurt, or my ribs and my arm. Is that normal with Fibromyalgia?

The pain is normal for fibro depending on what type of pain it is. If it feels achy like the flu in your back, then it's the right type of pain. You should have also had a whole mess of blood work. It could definitely be fibro but I would see the rheumy and he could tell you better and see if there is anymore tests to be run. Also fibro usually (but not alway) comes with a whole host of other syndroms. I have migraines, double jointed, rhynauds, IBS, hypothyroidism, insomnia, fibro fog and a few others I can't think of. If you ask anyone on the board, the majority would have at least one of these things.
And nno matter how hard this might sound, you need to keep moving. You have to exercise but start of slowly. That might be only stretching but it truely helps the pain. You might even have to start out at 5 min. a day but KEEP MOVING.

Robin --
I have pain under my arms also. I mentioned it to my doc last time and he ignored me. I went in for other symptoms and was diagnosed with IBS. I've also been diagnosed with TMJ in the past year.
So what do your underarm pains feel like? Mine are shooting pains in my armpits, but when I feel in that area, my very top rib under my arms are sore on both sides. I also occasionally have pain in my arms all the way to my fingers that feels like joint pain.

Hi Wonderingtoo,
The pain under my arms is an ache, not a shooting pain, just an ache that's there most of the time. It goes down my sides too.
One day my left ribs will be hurting, the next day it can be my right. The bottom of my back will ache and my jaw hurts. I have to have dental work done soon, so it may be due to an infected tooth, but it's a shooting pain in my jaw on the left side.
When I look at all of the crazy symptoms I've had over the past 2 months, I'm amazed. Most of them I've never had before, so it totally came out of nowhere. The symptoms have been all over the map.
The thing driving me crazy lately are these heart palpitations or skipped beats (feeling like my heart is flip flopping in my chest). Does anyone else feel that?

What you describe could be me 3 years ago. The rib pain sometimes left, sometime right, sometimes left. sometimes goes around to the back.
Feet, ankles, knees, calves, thighs, hands, fore-arms. Foggy Thinking. Bad memory. More test than I can count.
First time i noticed it, I was on a business trip to Chicago. Nothing to do after work so I just walked around town. The thing was, my legs ached and I noticed that I was walking funny. Like I had drank just a bit too much. Problem was I don't drink. it's been slowly progressive. The rheumy says Fibro. Neuro says Peripheral neuropathy. They both say there is no reason that I can't have both. Thanks !
All I can say is Life goes on. Maybe just a bit slower.
