LJen 01-27-2007, 09:00 PM Has anyone on here ever experienced a simple partial seizure? I am just curious what type of seizures generally accompany seizures (if you get seizures with your lupus). Sponsor kare4me 02-01-2007, 02:34 AM I just had my first seizure ever almost 3 weeks ago, I was asleep when it happened and I dont remember ever having it and only know what my husband told me about it. He said that it was a full convulsive seizure my whole body was involved, I did not loose control of my bladder or bowels but I was hitting my self in the head and my arms and legs were every where. he said it lasted about 2 to 3 mins. After it was over He said that I was pretty out of it and that I complained about my head and that I was crying that my head hurt realy realy bad. And then I feel back to sleep. I have been on 200mg of Topamax since it happened and I have not had another one since. I had and EEG done and it showed that I have mild frontal lobe irregularities and abnormalities. So I have been refered to a specialist in Neurology that handles Seizures and Lupus. I just got back my Skin biopsy 2 weeks ago that confirmed lupus before the skin biopsy they were just calling it Intercranial Hypertention.(Fluid on the brain) So now with the Skin biopsy it is making more sense to them. So I am hoping we can contect all the dots. As for what type of Seizures, I think it all depends, Every person is Differant and it reacts differant in every person. I am sure Vee will anwser your question she is great and knows so much, But that is my experiance that I have had so far. As I go to the Dr and learn more I will let you know. Thanks Karianne ~sunny~ 02-03-2007, 08:53 PM My now 17 year old son had a positive skin biopsy about 5 years ago....he has never had any other medical problems or symptom other the the rash on his face. Over Christmas break I casme home from work to find he had left a pan burning on the stove and was "asleep" in the living room. Upon waking him up, he was incoherent, unable to talk understandably, and his balance was off. We ended up at the hospital for 3 days, the lab work, CT, and lumbar puncture were are inconclusive. An EEG a week later showed temporal lobe seizure activity. We have a follow up with the neruologist on monday. Last friday he had a recheck by the dermatoligist (1st in 2 year), although his rash has been well controlled, she has referred him to a rhumatoligist. The event over Christmas break really sounds like a simple complex seizure..I'm intersted to se if is associated with his DLE. |
