Hello-

My period was due this weekend, as was a visit from my bf. I am on Ortho Tri Cyclen LO, and for the first time, decided to skip my period. To do this, I took my pills through the blue ones then continued with the same level blue in a new pack. Therefore, I took two continuous weeks of the high hormone level, wihtout going to the placebos. We had sex w/o a condomn. Is it possible I could get pregnant, or would the pill still be effecive? Thank you very much.

I don't know, I've thought on the triphasic pills it is not a very good idea to skip your period and I'm not sure how the pack works, but if you chose to skip, you probably should have skipped the placebo pills and started a new pack from the beginning is my thinking. Maybe the way you did it is OK, too, I'm not an expert. Anyway, skipping periods on triphasic pills is not a good idea because the result is often a lot of random breakthrough bleeding. I don't think you would have gotten pregnant, though.

You should call your gyn. office and ask a nurse's opinion.

Good luck!

I would have to disagree with the above poster. If you are going to skip on a tri-phasic pill, it is suggested to keep with the same hormone level. If you start a new pack, you will still have a big dip in hormones that can lead to breakthrough bleeding. It should be completely as effective as your pill normally is.
