Still not diagnosed with fibro (as my GP will not send me to a rheumy), but I think I have it.
I also have IBS and TMJ for those who haven't seen my other posts.

Anyway, I have shooting pains in my armpits, but when I feel in that area, my very top rib under my arms are sore on both sides. I also occasionally have pain in my arms all the way to my fingers that feels like joint pain.
I also have hip pain, and occasionally pain in my knees.

The underarm pains are the ones that are freaking me out because it's just so weird.

Hi Wondering:

I've also had underarm pain. The arm pit pain I experienced doesn't sound exactly like what you are experiencing, however. I paid it no mind, and contributed it to fibro. All the other symptoms you described are pretty familiar sounding.

Blessings,
Kirstee

hi wondering,
we don't ask our doctors to send us to a specialist. we tell them. we say, do this for my peace of mind. we guilt them into it if need be. whatever it takes. we change doctors till we find the right one for us. we fight for our right to be seen and heard. we fight for our health and our sanity.
were it me, i would raise holy hell with that doctor. doctors do not determine my life. i do. they assist only. that is their job. i have fired 17 doctors along the way. i found mine. worth the search. i now have 8 doctors who assist me.
oh yea, the arm pain. me too. i quit wearing a bra and that helped more than anything else. never liked them anyway. i have a mamo once a year and it always comes back fine. so i put this pain in my room labled, another weird thing.
try not to worry. stick up for yourself. no one else will. remember don't ask, tell. firmly and respectfully.
peace,
bluelakelady

peace,

Thanks for the welcome!
I wear a bra when I go out in public because I feel better in doing so. I am a 38DD and really need it! I always get the kind that are most comfortable!

When I had that severe pain in my rib area (both center front and under the breasts to the armpit area, my GYNE had me go in for an ultrasound and determined that it was costochondritis. There is also Tietze Syndrome that is related to the costochondritis.

Costochondritis Overview

Costochondritis is an inflammation of the junctions where the upper ribs join with the cartilage that holds them to the breastbone or sternum. The condition causes localized chest pain that you can reproduce by pushing on the cartilage in the front of your ribcage. Costochondritis is a relatively harmless condition and usually goes away without treatment. The cause is usually unknown.

* Costochondritis (with unknown cause) is a common cause of chest pain in children and adolescents. It accounts for 10-30% of all chest pain in children. Annually, doctors evaluate about 650,000 cases of chest pain in young people aged 10-21 years. The peak age for the condition is 12-14 years.

* Costochondritis is also considered as a possible diagnosis for adults who have chest pain. Chest pain in adults is considered a potentially serious sign of a heart problem by most doctors until proven otherwise. Chest pain in adults usually leads to a battery of tests to rule out heart disease. If those tests are normal, and your physical exam is consistent with costochondritis, your doctor will diagnose costochondritis as the cause of your chest pain. It is important, however, for adults with chest pain to be examined and tested before being diagnosed with costochondritis. Often it is difficult to distinguish the two, without further testing. The condition affects females more than males (70% versus 30%). Costochondritis may also occur as the result of an infection or as a complication of surgery on your sternum.

* Tietze syndrome is often referred to as costochondritis, but the two are distinct conditions. You can tell the difference by noting the following:

o Tietze syndrome usually comes on abruptly, with chest pain radiating to your arms or shoulder and lasting several weeks.

o Sneezing, coughing, deep breathing, or twisting your chest can increase the pain.

Hi. Pain under your arms in the "pit" area is common for those folks who have CFS along with their FM which, like I said in one of my other posts it isn't unusual to have both conditions. I can't believe you haven't been referred to a Rheumy. What could it hurt? Change your PC doc. You may have something entirely else wrong with you than FM. You may have FM, you may not. Have they done any blood tests?
Can you feel a slight swelling under your arms when there is pain? Could be a trigger point. Also, those things generally tend to pop up when your in your monthly cycle. I get them under my arm, behind my knee, and in my groin area.

Again, my advice, get a new PC doc. Ya gotta kiss a lot of frogs to get to the prince!

I've had a lot of blood tests in January. They were all normal except for my SED was slightly elevated.

I posted here tonight because I'm having really bad rib pain. I was sitting sideways on my couch and noticed it hurt when I leaned back. Then I pressed on my rib in the spot where it hurts and it really hurt. It's about 4 inches down from my underarm, toward the back side. It's also on the same side where my TMJ is bothering me and my hip really hurts. I also have a spot on the muscle/tendon in my collarbone close to my neck where when I press it, it causes pain under my arm.

I have recently been having pain in my under arm. Had the doc feel for it yesterday. Funny, my pains seem to favor one side of the body on occasion as well. I also have a lump behind my ear and my neck hurts the worst on the side my arm pit has the pains. Its not all the time, just once in a while it stabs me.
I hate bras and wish I could remove my boobs! I too am a 38DD. I nursed my 2 kids and believe me, I need the support. Haven't noticed any diff in the pain with or without my bra on, but... Ive always said I could never voluntarily have a reduction or lift. God have mercy if I HAVE to, I pray I never have to, but I would LOVE to be able to walk around in the summer in a guinea-tee without a bra!!!! LET FREEDOM RING!!!!!!!! LOL
Feel well, Felicia
