View Full Version : what to believe...

Hi All....
Have another question which I hope some one can help me with, in January hubby had a PET scan which showed that he had an 'uptake' in the jaw, after viewing the results of the PET scan the doc told us that it wasn't looking good...(his words) as the cancer has also returned in the liver, and is now in the jaw bone, the doc ordered a CT scan for the jaw/neck, which..amazingly enough, showed NO cancer in the jaw .we were always led to believe that a PET scan will show cancer at cellular level, is this true? and if so, why the follow up CT scan which shows he doesn't have an uptake/cancer in the jaw?... we have another appointment in a few weeks, but we don't know whether to feel relieved and then to be brought down again as the radioligist suggests we follow up with another MRI, Since Dec hubby has already had 2 CT scans, 1 PET scan and already has had 1 MRI..the other MRI was of the body not neck...is this good for the body or what?? His CEA readings are slowly rising, it was below 1 ( december) and it's now 3,(January) doc said not to worry as it's still below 5.. I know it's low but is it a bad sign? as you can see I'm feeling very frustrated, having all the above and still not knowing if it's spread to the jaw bone...when first diagnosed in 2005, he did have a lymph node in the neck as well....am trying to stay positive, have to be for hubby, no sense in us both worrying about this new development..I'm the healthy one so I can worry for both of us I keep telling him..thank you for 'listening'

stay well everyone and God bless
