Thank's Lalee for your response. I got the ball rolling today by making
an appointment with a GI. Couln't get in till Feb 22. Saw an internest
today regarding the stomach ache. Had some bloodwork done. I was
wondering, is there anything they can tell by certain blood tests that
can give any info regarding the condition of the colon. Take care and
hope you are well.

I'm pretty certan there are some things they can tell from the bloodwork but not really too sure what. I'm sure other people on here will be able to answer that though.
I'm in the UK and don't seem to get the same information that others on here get. I've had colon cancer twice and it was only after the colonoscopies that it was confirmed. They did blood tests when I was in hospital for my operations but I never got any results.
I'm so glad you have made an appointment with your GI. February 22nd seems a long way away when your waiting but hang on in there. It's awful waiting to get started isn't it? I was a wreck the second time and got myself into quite a state but coming on here helped a lot. Everybody was so supportive and helped me through it. We are all here for you too and I'm sure some of the knowlegable people on here will be able to answer your question about the bloodwork.
Best wishes
Lalee

It is hard to say what they might be looking for. I do believe it is possible that cancer sends some blood markers in your blood stream, urine, and other by products and therefore they might be looking for those. Or they may just be viewing your overall condition. I hope the test results reach you with the very best of news and in the fastest manner.

They can run a CBC or Complete Blood Count. If you have something going on with your colon, or GI tract for that matter, it is possible that your Hematocrit level might be low indicating that you are most likely bleeding somewhere internally... usually the first place to look is your GI tract.
Also there are markers for inflammation... Sed Rate will be elevated.
They COULD run a CEA, but that's typically not run unless you have been dx with a GI cancer.
Good Luck,:)
I hope everything works out well for you.
