I am 27 and started takin the pill for contraception reasons ~7 years ago and was on and off Trinordiol with several long periods witout pills.
I also had taken several treatments since adolescence till then for severe acne. several times on antibiotics, twice on roaccutane, all through using various lotions etc... all worked when for a while but soon after the acne came back (while trinordiol had no effect) Until last year i was told to try switching to Dianette as it may be due to hormonal imbalance. It worked! But
now the doctor advise me to stop it because of its dangerous risks of clots etc. and advise me to choose any other pill i wish! But i cannot decide what suits me best nor understand the differences of each hormone quantity:
I fear when i come off Dianette that my acne will start again and perhaps even hair will grow. My other worries are mainly weight gain, excess sweating as well of potential depression; and of course any other undesirable or dangerous side effects.. However i do not mind breasts swellings in fact since i actually have very samll ones! ;)
thank you greatly for your advice.

Hi, i've been on Dianette twice - for about 9 months at a time and it really cleared my skin, but like you, i didn't like to stay on it too long. When i came off it, i got zits after about 4 months. Now i'm on Marvelon (Desogen in the US). It's supposed to be a good one for skin, the next best thing to Dianette. The first month i took it, i got alot of headaches, so came off the pill altogether for 2 months. Then i decided to give it another go and i've taken 2 more packs and been ok. My skin is still clear apart from a few tiny pimples on my chest, but my face isn't as oily as it was when i came off it. So i would reccommend Marvelon. The nurse suggested Cilest, as she said that was good for zits, but my friend is on that one and she gets zits. So i asked for Marvelon. If i'm not happy with this one in a few months, i'll try Cilest.

I was on Yasmin and it really helped my Acne. I had no side effects other than nausea when I first started( it went away). I loved Yasmin, but I now take Seasonique for the extended time between periods.
