View Full Version : High CPK levels - avoid alcohol?

Due to excessive working out my elbows and forearms started swelling up, so I went to the doctor and after a blood test it was revealed that my CPK level was at 9,000. I was sent to the ER where my kidneys were screened and my CPK level dropped overnight. It's currently at 1,273 only a few days later, but I know this is still high. The nurse told me that I can't drink alcohol until the CPK level is back to normal, which may take 3 or more weeks, as it may lead to liver damage or hepatitis. Does anyone know if this is a serious risk or just a minor precaution, and at what level does your CPK need to be in order to safely consume alcohol without worrying about liver damage or hepatitis?

thanks
