I have a active 2 yr old and i am a stay at home mom. He loves cooking, music, working with tools and reading. We do lot of painting, coloring, playing with play doh, reading etc.

I would like to know what kind of activites you do with your kids when at home. I am looking for some ideas to keep him busy other than watching tv.

He wakes up at 7am and takes a nap at 1pm for 2 hrs so its kind of a long day for us specially since its really cold out here. We go to the library once a week and have a playgroup once a week.

Thanks!

I have older kids now however when they were younger we live up in WA state and a few of the malls had play areas in the middle of them for younger kids. These areas includes matts for tumbling and cushioned climbing things. Also look into some of you local gyms to find out if they have classes for mommy and me. These will be like tumbling or gymnastics. Just a thought. Good Luck.

here are some activity ideas.. variations of things you may arleady do like painting but for variety..

Messy stuff.. foot painting prints\hand prints.. flour and water mixed together (use like finger paint).. lux flakes use hot water to disolve the flakes, it sets like slime.. fun stuff!.. cornflour and water mixed together (is my fav) dip cotton wool into paint and throw on large peice of paper.. old playdough mixed with water.. ballon painting.... all that stuff is real messy but o so fun!! clay..

have u tried making your own muscial instuments? fill plastic bottles (coke bottles etc) with beads, rice, sand.. glue the lid on and hey presto!

golf ball paintings.. get a icecream container, put a peice of paper in it and blob sum paint on, then get a golf ball and get ur little one to tip the container from side to side, makes cool paterns :)

fill deoderant bottles with paint and use on paper..

cut of pictures from old mags.. do glueings.. is this helpful cos i can probably think of more if your interested..
