View Full Version : Upper abdominal pressure with IBS?

My newest lovely symptom is pressure in my upper abdomen, just below the middle of my ribcage, a little to the right. It's a lot of pressure, and when I feel there, I can feel a swelling area. My husband felt it and said it feels like my intestines are sticking out there. It's a good size area, about 2 inches across. It hurts a little too, but mostly it's pressure.

I have been diagnosed with IBS-D, but haven't seen a GI doctor. My GP says that 90% of IBS cases are diagnosed without seeing a GI doctor, and that it's not necessary to see one with my symptoms. So he won't refer me.
My diarrhea started in December, and is almost every day, but generally only once a day. Before that I had alternating diarrhea/constipation/flat stools/regular stools.

Still not convinced this latest bout of diarrhea is IBS.

BTW, I don't have a gall bladder anymore, had it out 14 years ago, so I know it's not that.

I Have upper stomach pain, just like yours, but i do not feel any type of lumps, though it is swollen, if i were you i would ask my doctor to send you for some tests, to make sure it is IBS, as the symptoms of IBS could be the same as some other underlining conditions, seems to me though, that lots of people who have had a gall bladder removal, always seem to get IBS, my self included, but if it were you i would want some tests done to confirm it is IBS, have to say my doctor was OK in that respect, that i think i must have had every test available done, just waiting for one more result, keep us informed has to how you get on.
