I was reading in a magazine that if you do not have enough calories while excersising you don't lose weight. I have a feeling I come under that category because I am always hungry and I do excersise VERY vigorously. What sorts of foods can I snack on? I sometimes go for the low fat ricotta is that a good choice? or fruit as well.

Ricotta by itself? Ick! Just doesn't sound too tasty to me!

Fruit, raw veggies, and nuts. Anything in it's natural state is always better than the processed snacks!

I LOVE Riccotta but alas even the Partially Skimmed variety is WAY to calorific for me.
I can snarf down 500 calores worth without even beginning to fill up.

Low-fat cottage cheese is a smarter choice.

That's an oft-repeated pop-magazine blurb...it just is not true, not a word of it.

Is it still okay to eat regular cottage cheese? The skin kind upsets my stomach VERY badly and I think I was okay with the low-fat.. but I'm just not sure because I haven't eaten it lately. I don't know why skim products bother my stomach so much. I actually buy 1% Lactaid milk and I like it a lot and it doesn't bother me. I can eat any kind of yogurt just fine.

Nuts eh? I'm always a bit scared of the nuts because I know they are quite high in calories but apparently they are good calories or something. I try eating fruit but it doesn't really fill me up

From Turrrrrra: Is it still okay to eat regular cottage cheese? The skin kind upsets my stomach VERY badly and I think I was okay with the low-fat..

Regular (4% fat) cottage cheese is STILL far fewer calories than the same amount of Skim RICCOTTA. It's about 120 calories for quarter tub...4 ounces.
Lower fat (2% fat)will pare off some more calories for about 102 per 4 ounces.
Non-fat is down to 80 calories.
Since the caloric difference isn't large, eat whichever tastes best and agrees with you.

My taste favorite is AXELROD CREAMED COTTAGE CHEESE...It's the full 120 caloires per half cup but is creamy and delicious with no hint of sour. It is also on sale at my supermarkets. :D
