I just turned 41 and for the past three periods have been light with my last month period being very light. I am now 5 days late this month and have still not started my period. Is it common to skip a period or be late during perimenopause? I have always been very regular and rarely start late. Also I had all the pms that comes along with starting my period just no period.

hi baylee. anything is 'normal' for perimenopause, stop start, light heavy, long short, you name it and you can bet someone will have experienced it. also to have pms and no period is also 'normal'. by the time you are post menopausal you'll probably have had most, if not all, of the signs and symptoms you've heard of. not as bad as it sounds, and definately helpful to chat about it with the ladies here. welcome to the club!!

Hi, I'm 42 and have been going threw the same thing you have for about three years now. The first time I missed my period I got so scared cause there is no way at all I could be pregnant, hubby took care of that long time ago.

But then i learned that is one of the many sides to being peri. There are some months I don't get it but get the worst case of PMS I haver ever had in my life. Worse then when I do get it.
It seems there is no rhyme or reason to getting it or not. And different people I have talked to about it have different experiences.

I think you can consider it all part of the norm for what being peri is. I do know that finding these boards has helped me a lot.

.... Welcome to the 35 symptoms of peri-menopause.... it is strange all the symptoms we have before menopause and late periods seems to be one of them... nothing is ever the same as you enter into this stage .... so just grab hold of yourself and enjoy the ride..{lol}..... Dee

Thank you much for the replies. It really helped ease my worries hearing from others going through the same thing as myself. Just sorda hit me out of the blue. I was going along with regular cycles and BAM in a instant it all changed. So strange of a feeling to have the normal pms without a period and add hot flashes it has made me very moody. To think I have just started this journey and am already this moody. My poor husband and kids.
