View Full Version : New Med

ugh... Another new med trial. I am so sick of this. Trying to have hope with new meds and giving them chances of working are driving me up the wall. I've been with the same cocktail for over 3 years, and now it has begun to fail me. So, we are back to sqaure one again and starting over to re-mix it up.

Just got back from visiting with the MD. I've been off the Lamictal for over two and a half weeks or more. So far, I have felt quite well physically, and didn't realize, but I do have quite a bit of energy, and am not as tired as I was, though the Lamictal gave me energy I don't feel 'drugged'. The MD pointed out I appeared drugged to her with droopy eyes, and slurred my words when I was in for my last appointment. Oh nice! I think my mom even told me that as well a while back when I was taking that med too.

She wants me to not go back on it, though it worked wonders for my psyche, and was the best psych med I've ever been on. My pdoc wants me to go back on it, regardless. She won't allow me to be back on it, period. And requested that I be put on a new medication to suite the needs of my situation. Hopefully the pdoc will follow the instructions.

Then I am concerned about the weight gain. He tends to always wanting to put me on weight gainer meds. ARGH! I have an Eating Disorder! And, have already gained 35 pounds plus from Abilify. I eat well and exercise to try and lose it, and am struggling. Menopause is preventing with metabolism issues. I am so depressed with this weight topic. I can't afford to gain more weight.

Sorry for the long post. I just need some comfort knowing others are listening.

Hi Coffeegirl

I hear ya! But I am a little confused. Shouldn't your pdoc be deciding which neuropharmaceutical will work best for you? I'm sorry I've forgotten what your issues are with Lamicatl and why the doc doesn't want you on it.

I can sympathize with you about the frustrations of trying to find a drug that works with the fewest side effects...and I commend you for hanging in there and for keeping on trying. Hopefully you will find something soon that works for you.

Hang in there
