View Full Version : WBC Counts are "Off"

Can anyone tell me what this might mean?

I had a CBC w/differential done to assess my iron deficiency anemia.

The good news is that my anemia seems to be on the mend and all my red blood cell numbers were normal.

However, for this particular CBC, my WBC was a little above normal at 11.0 (normal range should be no higher than 10.5).

On top of that, my lymphocyte count was at 11 (and should be no lower than 14).

My neutroophils were also elevated at 84 (should be no higher than 74).

For the past few CBCs, my neutrophils have been elevated when ALL other values have been normal. Now they are still elevated but other things are out of whack.

My doctor apparently thinks nothing of this as he didn't mention it when he reviewed my results with me. I only saw them when I picked up the lab reports to take to another doctor.

The day I had the test done, I had no illness going on that I can remember. It was just a normal day. The only think I can mention is that I have a pretty severe anxiety disorder and I get EXTREMELY nervous at the doctor's office. I have read/heard that this stuff can elevate WBCs. I am a bit concerned about the lymphs though. They were normal just two months ago.

Any ideas?

My wbc is also up 11.2 I would be interested to know if severe anxiety could have something to do with it also, because before this started I was anxious but X 100 now..

Well, so far, I really can't get ANY information on the numbers. I have asked a few questions elsewhere and just get no response.

Hi,

Those numbers are not abnormal enough to be of concern. Stress or a cold or slight infection could cause that... or it could be normal for you.

You could ask for another blood count with differential to be done now to see if it's corrected itself.

:)
