I take 1200 mg and have been getting rage and depression attacks at work. I know they will fire me if I keep this up. Is this kind of what cycling is?
Today, he added a seizure medication, tegretol. I will see how this works.

Tegretol is also used as a mood stabilizer, similar to lithium. My 25-year old son takes those two plus Lamictal and is doing very well. He has been stable now for almost 2 years, and it started with the addition of the Lamictal, the 3rd drug added. Hopefully the addition of tegretol will work for you, too. Are you taking the one that is a time-release formula?
Hang in there. It can be a long process to find the right med or combination of meds that allows you to be stable and to then live life to your full potential. We felt like giving up with our son, but eventually they found what worked best for him.
Best,

Are you getting your lithium levels checked? If your lithium level is not within the therapeutic range (somewhere in the range of 0.6 to 1.2), then your dosage will not have the desired effect.
How much water (or other non-caffeinated beverages) are you drinking each day? Are you drinking alcohol, which can reduce lithium's effectiveness?
Have you expressed your concerns to your doctor? Maybe lithium is not the right medication for you.
Good luck.

Hang in there! It can be hard to find the right combo of medications! Don't give up though!

Thank you Tsohl,
Between sleeping all day in and out I worry about taking tegretol. Not that it is good your son is taking it but I now feel better. I think I just have to get used to it. I not flying off the handle then going into a depression over and over again anymore.
