Hi! It has been a long, long time since I last posted. Flashback: My husband has severe Neuropsychiatric Lupus. His Dad had it (ultimately died of Scleroderma), his Aunt has it. And now our five year old has been referred to a pediatric Rheumy. He has repeative episodes on morning stiffness in this knees and ankles. Sometimes he cannot walk for 45 minutes and he has rashes. He tires fairly easily. He has an Autism diagnosis, too. Has anyone ever encountered a Malar rash that was just on the cheeks only? Not over the nose too? I cannot find info about variations on the Malar rash. Our son only has rashes on his cheeks and sometimes on his behind.

Any input would be appreciated! Thank you and I hope everyone is doing well!

PS: My husband was given 2 rounds of an experimental infusion of the chemo drug Rituxan (Rituximab). He is now in almost full remission. Let me say that he had severe, severe Lupus that totally disabled him and made him like he was a brain injured, mentally ill person at age 35. After the treatment, I have my husband back. It is a miracle!!!!!Any Rheumy can order this medication off- label. Insurance may or may not pay for it. Hope this helps someone!!!!!!!

My son at 11 or 12 had the rash between his lower lip and chin, as well as his nose and forehead. His was also just inside the hair line. I have never seen pictures similer to how his looked (it looks like the texture of skin after a curling iron burn), but the dermatologist immediatly thought DLE and the biopsy was positive. As a teenager it looks like acne...

JASIUSMOM: I just tried a search on "Pediatric Lupus" and found various articles on children & lupus. Have you tried that? I hope you post more soon. Also, that's terrific news about your husband doing so much better! With my best wishes to all of you, Vee

I have a rash just on my cheeks, not my nose (just a little flaking skin on sides of nose but no redness like my cheeks). I just saw my rheum. today and had the testing done for lupus.
I wondered about this too because my rheum. has virtually ignored the rash until today. It has been with me off and on (in flares) for 9 years.

Great news about your husband!
