Hi all,

God you guys have been a god send since I had this done on day 5 when i was cracking up with pain it was so reassuring to hear you all say its normal as you were feeling it or had felt it too.
Ok new question. I am day 17 and still uber sore. I did get an infection on day 5 or six and had a course of anti biotics which cleared it up but on the left side, where I used to get reccuring quinsy it just wont seem to settle.
The doc looked and said give it time but it just seems a bit long winded now is it? I have no real faith in my doc as he is not ENT and missed my infection til I bled so I guess I want your reassurance.
I have read on here that my taste loss is ok as you lot had it too?
My best friend had hers taken out in Nov last year and she didnt get hers back for a while but her recovery was prolonged as she had to be re done due to haemorage. So please advise guys. Thanks so much

Melissa (anyone else think this was worse than labour?) hahaha

What method did your doctor use to perform the T&A?

Was it electrocarterization, slash and stitch, or coablation?

My son and I had coablation T&A's. Recovery took 7 days for my son and 14 days for me.. I had complications and had to be resealed for bleeding on days 7 and 8 (thrush descabbing complications).

My brother had electrocaurterization at the age of 16. He recovered in 16 - 17 days.. but was still sore for a while after.. they did just burn his throat and as a result the second and third degree localized tissue damage had to heal in addition to the actual wound sites.

My mother and father had the old hack and slash, stitch up the mess method 35 years ago. My dad had no complications and was good after two weeks, but had pain for a good two more weeks. My mother was down for 21 days with another 7 days of recovery due to fatigue.

So the answer is.. it really depends on you and your technique... however I do recommend consulting an ENT if the pain persists much longer.

Sincerely,
MG (Melissa 2)

P.S. Not worse than labour, but I had to have an emergency C-section and was hospitalized for four weeks afterward.

Hiya,

I had mine done on 16th & the pain has pretty much gone now - I can eat like I was before I had it done but I still get restricted movement when yawning & it hurts. Taste is back to normal as far as I can tell. When I had a look in there this morning it is still pretty red and still some of that yellow sluf (sp) there. Still get tired easily and seem to pick up sneezing & coughing easily. My ENT said on Tuesday that it was healing fine, he signed me off work for another week & I am going back on Tuesday now.
