I've been lurking on this board for the past few days. My husband (52) was diagnosed last December, PSA 31 & Gleason 9. No symptoms. Bone scan was clean, but his cancer is aggressive & probably had spread outside of the prostate. I visited the American Cancer & the Prostate Cancer Foundation sites, but I was really hoping for a site that had a message board. I finally googled "prostate cancer message boards" & this came up. I have learned so much & am so grateful to all of you for sharing.
When the book, Guide to Surving Prostate Cancer by Dr. P Walsh was suggested I went straight to the book store, bought it & almost read it in one sitting. That is a fantastic book. All patients shoud be given it when they are diagnosed. I am after my husband to read it before his surgery next week. He will probably be having a radical prostectomy but it all depends on what his doctor finds. This not knowing, with everything so up in the air, is difficult.
I will continue to educate myself, read your posts & look forward to any comments & words of encouragement.

Lynne,

Good luck to your husband, and yourself. My husband was diagnosed almost two years ago with a PSA of 120, and Gleason 9. He has been on hormone therapy since then, and is feeling great.

I agree, the waiting, not knowing, imagining the worst are all hard. We have all been there.

Again, good luck with the surgery, or whichever treatment he chooses.
