I just lost a very close relative to a carjacking, and need help finding a doctor in the DC area who specializes in this kind of work.
Could also use guidance to find one for someone in Houston, since she needs it more than I do.
Is there anyone who can help me? I'm starting to lose it and need to get help quick...thanks.

Why don't you talk to primary care phisician about your simpthoms and cituation. He should have somebody who accept your insurance to recommend you or at least good specialist you should pay out of your pocket.
If this doesn't work than go for big places wher psychologist has supervisor upon him.

Dear rampage,
Sorry we had to meet under theses circumstances but I welcome you with open arms.
HMMMMM. Let me see; you are looking for "PTSD therapists in Houston."
I would start by "googling" that. There you will find out about a specific therapists qualifications, expertise and years of practice.
Let me know how things turn out.
If you need to "talk" or need support, we are but a post away.
Take care

I really suggest you not to go to person blindly with no refrences. If you got one at least check his credentials on board of psychologists. Ask if he has complains against him. Best of all use recommended one.

Rampage,
What a horrible tragedy. I'm so sorry. My words can't take away your pain, but you are wise to look for trained guidance.
I agree with galinaqt. References are best. Like she said, your regular physician can give you a referral. Go from there. The same with your friend in Houston.
Even check the phone book. Most counselors don't hide from the public. If you make your needs known to your doctor, or a trusted friend who already sees a counselor, you'll make the needed connection.
Keep us posted.
Best wishes,
Nikki

I wouldn't suggest to use phonebook or any lists with no recommendations, based on my experience. If you can't get any recommendations at least choose big team with supervisor. Read about how to choose right psychologist on the net so you will see red flags.
