I got a splint 5 years ago to help stop grinding my teeth. It didn't and made everything worse. Since than I have two more splints with the same horrible result.
I can't stop grinding my teeth, but I think the problem is that my bite is so off. I'm in so much pain and suffering all over my face. I have dizziness and pressure in my nose I wake up with everyday.
I am seeing a Oral surgeon right now, but he is the one who gave me this latest splint that has now made me worse!
I'm done wearing splints and don't know what to do or where to go. I need serious help!
Any advice?

Splints don't stop you from grinding. The splint helps protect your teeth and with your pain. I have a splint and have no proublems with it.

That's interesting, I also get pressure on my nose. Tell me do you have any sort of nasal obstruction?

I know the splints don't stop me from grinding, but the first dentist i saw for teeth grinding told me that it would! He said I should wear it on for 3 months, than off for 3 months, and keep going that way and it would stop my teeth grinding. At the time I had no idea that a splint wouldn't stop grinding. I wasn't looking to screw my bite up and was lied to!!!!!!!!
I have no nasal obstruction at all! In fact I have thought that I had sinus problems all this time, but have none. The pressure is in the bridge of my nose and feels like crap everyday I wake up that I grind more. I am now dizzy 24/7 and have constant pain and pressure all over my face. I feel like my face is collapsing sometimes.

halls, you should probably try physical therapy. of all the orthodontists i've been to everyone has recommended me going into splint therapy which im doing now but one doctor was fairly persistent on me doing physical therapy which i can't afford right now but would consider it later. i think that if the splint is making you worse that physical therapy might be up your alley. i tried it once and it wasn't incredibly painful but you have to have about 10-12 goes at it to really notice results. again, exspensive, but definatly something to consider.

I didn't know there was physical therapy for this! WOW! Well i see my Oral Surgeon on Thursday and I'm going to ask him about it.
Honestly, I have good insurance of can afford to do it. I think I will look into it!
