I've had TMJ since I was a teenager. My mom has it, as well. I grind my teeth at night and have since I was a child. I'm 35 and wear an appliance to keep my bottom and top teeth from touching when I grind and to maintain some stability with my jaw.
In recent years, I've had some periods of painful, restricted movement that last a few weeks. For the past 5 years, I have constant popping and occasional displacement of my jaw. I can still slide it back into place.
Anybody discovered a procedure to avoid damage from this problem?
