I have been on Losec for 3 months now , I have been getting the pain above my belly button again on and off for the last 4 days!!

I am taking 20mg a day , I was hoping to come of them. Will this inflammation ever go !! What can I do to help it, I also have a under-active thyroid!!

Oh yeah also had pain under my ribs for a year, I had scan on my gallbladder a year ago come back with no stones!!

Is your doctor treating your thyroid and it is still underactive? If the thyroid isn't stabilized and functioning properly it can create a whole mess of problems.

As for the duodenum, I believe excessive acid can cause it to become inflamed. It seems odd (although possible, I suppose) to have excessive acid to the point of harming the duodenum while on Losec (I'm assuming it's the same as our PPI's in the US...) Have you had an upper GI scope? If not, maybe you could ask your doctor to start there.

Hi need, yes I am on Levo 75mcg for my thyroid, always from the day I was told that I had a uder-active thyroid I have felt crap!!

I am in the normal range, I thnik my tsh being under 1, and my free t4 being in the middle of range may not be right.

But in the UK it hard to get a doctor to understand!!

I did have a Endoscopy that how I know I have inflammation, I have been taking 20mg of Losec for 3 months now about 2 months ago the doctor said to go up to 40mg , but the pain above the belly button was ok so I didnt go up I am thinking maybe I should, but I realy did what to stop them not take more.

I have the pain again NOW, I still think with the pain I am getting under the ribs, more under the right rib maybe all to do with my gallbladder but once again the doctors are being crap about all this pain... Mandy
