Hello,

I have been having a barrage of health problems recently, exacerbated by the fact that I lost (my now have again) my health insurance for about 5 months. Anyway, my issues are as follows. First of all, my mother has lupus, which, in conjunction with the symptoms I am experiencing, concerns me. I have unilateral pain and numbness throughout the left side of my body, from top to bottom. From the tip of my toes, up to the top of my head, but all of the lefthand side. I experience cluster headaches and numbness on the left side of my head, droopy eye, congestion in left nostril, numbness down head and neck. My left hand numbness is increasingly worse. Particularly, my pinky and ring fingers, I feel it in the left side of my left arm as well. Leg, sort of the same way. My knee locks up sometimes, causing me great pain at night/ in the AM. My left toes and left foot always hurt. I have chest pains, almost all the time. it is particularly right below my left lung on the left side. and front and left of center. low and upper back pain. left side of groin pain. I have a pretty constant brain fog/ delayed memory/clumsiness. Stomach pain. lower left stomach pain. hip pain. I think the most annoying is this feeling right on/below left side of diaphragm which feels like a pretty constant gurgle esp. when inhaling/ exhaling. I have an oral ulcer in the back that has been there for a long time. I had ANA and lyme disease bloodwork done which came back fine. I realize that it could be atypical lupus or something else. This all began in high school when I used to get armpit pain and now I am 23 yr old (female) and when I was first checked out I was fine. Any suggestions??? I am frustrated!!! I am scared!!! I ruminate on this constantly and am starting to psych myself out. Please help!!!

Dear Toydawl, Have you seen a GP, as your first step? I think you should schedule an appt. without further delay. Or, just head STRAIGHT to the E.R., because your numbness, etc. seems to be affecting only your LEFT SIDE.

Your drs. will no doubt look at a number of things. Given your family history, one might be antiphospholipid syndrome, the blood clotting disorder seen in lupus & also seen "standalone". There are informational "sticky posts" at the top of the Board on antiphospholipid, on lupus, and on tests.

MAIN THING IS THIS: get PROFESSIONAL advice just as soon as you can, OK? Obviously, I'm only a (dumb) patient, but I'd hate to see you wait any longer. I hope you post again when time permits. All best wishes & good luck! Sincerely, Vee
