Yesterday afternoon I was feeling tired and lay down to take a nap. I started feeling cold and began to shiver 5 minutes later I was shaking and clenching my jaws uncontrollably. It was so violent i was biting my tongue as my teeth chattered and every muscle in my body was spasming and clenching. It was as if i had been thrown into freezing water and became hypothermic. My son caled 911. I was taken to the hospital and stablized. My pulse was high and i had severe vertigo after the shaking stapped as well as a killer headache. My temp was 103. The only thing the dr could come up with was a reaction to the fever coming on so suddenly. Has anyone ever experienced this type of reaction to a fever. I have been achy and exhosted since. The dr at the er said it was a very unusual reaction.
I have fibromyalgia but I and the dr dont think it is related.

I remember when I was a child, I experience something similar to that.

My parents treated as if the chills that I had, will eventually die out on its own. Which it did.

It was on and off for 1 week. Even with 3 layers of blanket..nothing helped to keep me calm.

And I was HOT....I mean, my body is shivering, but I am sweating like a pig. Body warmth was what helped me(I think)

At night as I was shivering....my parents had to switch place holding on to me.

We never went to a doctor...and I am an adult now. But, I wish I knew what the condition was called.
