View Full Version : Asthma and anxiety attacks

Good day. I have mild-moderate asthma. I also have anxiety. Sometimes I cannot tell the difference between the two. My symptoms are slightly labored breathing, sensation in the center of the breastplate area--this is usally a mild chest tightness, and nervousnesses. All these symtptoms can be attributed to both asthma and anxiety. (The chest tightness is non-cardiac as several tests have shown the ole ticker is good.) The epsiode gets resolved either with .25 mg of Xanax or with Albuterol. Fearing the asthma more than the anxiety, I many times will use Albuterol not sure if the epsiode was really asthma.

I have read anxiety and asthma is like the chicken and the egg--which came first and caused the other.

Is there a way to tell the difference between an asthma attack and an anxiety attack?

Thanks.

I have anxiety and its hard to tell if its the anxiety causing symptoms or the asthma. I would rather treat the asthma then the anxiety just to be safe.

mardebjs,

I would rather treat the asthma then the anxiety just to be safe. I hear that. I totally agree.

Glad to know I am not the only one.

Thanks for replying.
