I was wanting to know if you exercise 30 minutes in the morning and then 30 minutes in the evening for the same amout of time vs exerciseing for an hour at once.
my knees get to killing me after about 35 minutes, so I stop the hour exerciseing (treadmill) and went to 30 min mornings and then 30 minutes evenings.
it seems I burn more calories doing it this way,,,maybe not?
Will I SEE THE SAME RESULTS?
I started this a few days ago.

Hi Chevyman,

You can do it that way and you may see a benefit if you're doing more intensity since you keep burning calories after the exercise is over. It's a good idea especially if your knees hurt. That's why on the treadmill I do more incline than speed since I don't want to pound on my knees too hard or they start to hurt. At the gym, I find it helpful to switch from elliptical to treadmill because I found I can do each one better for short periods of time than one long session on either so I do 15 min elliptical, 16 min treadmill, 15 min elliptical, 16 min treadmill and 10 bike (I don't like doing the bike but I figure it's another way to move your legs so I do it for 2 miles) If I do weight training also, I throw in the weight machines in between the cardio for even more diversity.

I actually was reading on another site the very question you just asked in a FAQ and they also answered that it's fine to do it that way. They also said if you do over 60 min of cardio, you don't get much more benefit since after 60 you start getting diminishing returns for your effort.

I used to do pilates twice a day at different times and say great results! It was a workout tape so each one was 30 minutes or less. I need to start doing that again...
