I mentioned about this on the Cold and Flu thread. I ended up in the er with violent shaking and spasming, My teeth were chattering so hard i bit my tongue so much. At the hospital I had a fever of 103. The dr thought I had a reaction to the fever spiking so quickly.I have never had anything like that happen. Is it possibly related to FM? It was very scary.
Any Thoughts?

Hi smackliet,
This is not typical FM. Is there any chance you were having a febrile seizure?
Dehydration is not uncommon in fever, and electrolytes can become low. Low mineral/electrolyte levels (sodium, potassium, mag, cal) can contribute to shaking & spasming.
If I were you, I'd ask for an electrolyte screen & also for an ACTH stim test. An adrenal malfunction or deficiency sometimes manifests during crisis situations.
Unfortunately you're not likely to get the stim test, but you can always ask. And even if your electrolytes are in range, it might not be a bad idea to keep drinking juice, broth, etc. when you next get a fever, to see if that might avert a repeat.
Best wishes.

I too ended un in the er on the 6th. I had had enough...Had a fever of 104, chills, glands on the side of my neck were swollen, I had bad shaking/flinching fits that could last 2 straight hours, nausea & my body felt like a pin cushion. I was dehydrated so they put my on an iv for fluids. I had to follow up with my regular dr today, he is also one of the drs that treat me for fm. He didnt think it was related, just a really bad virus going around.
I am finally starting to feel better today, which makes it almost a week. Hope you are feeling better.
