roland92 02-05-2007, 10:22 PM So now here's a new symptom. Nausea with shakiness and then sweating, then cold. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I have never experienced this before. Does this sound like peri? What a roller coaster ride! T. Sponsor Deeraysmom 02-06-2007, 09:20 AM  ......... yes I do... and it's becoming quiet regular... I stay cold from head to feet even if it's hot...:jester: ...guess we just have to get use to all these symptoms... another day another symptom..good luck to ya.... Dee  Wink 02-06-2007, 12:46 PM YES! Exactly as you describe it. It comes on suddenly, I get really shaky, nauseous, cold, and sometimes a little lightheaded. There is no correlation to food either. Sometimes it happens after I eat, and sometimes it happens when it has been a while since I've eaten. My thyroid has been checked and its fine. These episodes are sometimes severe, and sometimes pass pretty quickly. This is/has been one of my most troubling symptoms. roland92 02-06-2007, 08:36 PM Dee & Wink, This has been happening quite often to me lately. With this I will also feel fatigue while this is happening like my body is being weighted down and I get breathless. I am wondering if these are like hot flashes that others get but they come out in a different way. Do you get regular hot flashes also? Wink, I thought this was due to what I had eaten also, but it now comes at different times in the day. T. Wink 02-07-2007, 04:24 PM I don't really suffer with hot flashes. When peri first started I did have some really terrible night sweats, but never really had hot flashes during the day. I sometimes would get a small one, but nothing major. Now that I am fully in menopause, I don't have the shaky, cold, nauseous episodes very often. They only happen occasionally, but when it hits it's pretty bad. I went to see an endocronologist a while back and he said that it could be due to a "hormonal surge". My hormones would take a sudden leap and my body would react with nausea and shakiness and feeling cold and clammy. I did not however experience any shortness of breath, but after an "episode" I would feel really tired. I do think this could be a different reaction to hormonal changes then hot flashes. Wink. roland92 02-07-2007, 08:18 PM Wink, Do you think going to an endocronologist helped you with your management of your symptoms? I am thinking of seeing one on my own. My pcp said that I didn't need to see one but I think maybe I should. I think that hormone surges may be the reason for my symptoms too but I would like to talk to someone other than my pcp about my symtoms. T. Wink 02-08-2007, 09:59 AM Hi Roland92, I was referred to the endo doc by my primary care doc because he just couldn't figure out why I was having so many wierd symptoms and just didn't link it all to menopause. The endo doc really wasn't able to prescribe anything to help the symptoms,( I refused HRT) but he certainly helped me to calm down about why I was feeling so bad. He was the one who explained to me that hormonal fluctuations in women can bring about a multitude of symptoms, that it seems to be different for everyone, and that the anxiety it creates can make it worse. So he helped me to understand what was happening with my body, and once I knew what it was (I didn't have a fatal disease!) I was able to just mentally handle it better. The endo doc did run a more in depth battery of blood tests then my other doctor, which all came back normal, and verified that I was indeed entering menopause. If you think that seeing an endocronologist will help give you peace of mind, and rule out that anything else is wrong then I say it is well worth it. It certainly helped me! Also, I was very fortunate to have been referred to this particular endo doc....he was patient, he listened to me, and he didn't dismiss me as being over emotional. Hope this helped! Take care, Wink. |
