Hi, I am 24 and am sooooooooooo happy my mum found this site! I am at day 6 and the pain in my left ear is horrible. Day one wasn't to bad - just a sore throat, nothing major. By day three the pain on swallowing was getting bad and I didn't think I could take much more....and then the ear pain started!
Whenever I try to eat or move around too much I get a sharp, intense pain from one spot in my throat that goes up to my ear. I have tried using ice and it helped a bit but now am using a heat pack and it is wonderful!!!
I find that if I have some drugs - nurofen(?) liquid and panadine forte - and get my hot pack over my ear and throat I can usually go to sleep for an hour or two. Have been drinking heaps of ice water but am finding it is starting to hurt a bit? I feel totally miserable and depressed, but am glad I'm not the only one going through this wonderful experiance...hehe.
I sympathise with you all and hopefully we can all get through this and as my family keep reminding me we will all feel better than ever to once we do!
P.S. I am also having honey water - mix a 1/4 cup of honey with boiling water to make up one cup then fridge or pour over ice cubes. It really helps and goes down easily (all things considered!!).
