Do any of you recommend any particular protein shake? Not the kind to gain weight, but a healthy one that is good for getting in extra protein and vitamins.. I'm a student and I know I don't always have the time to cook a good meal and often don't eat enough protein from the kinds of food I eat. I also have a sensitive stomach and a lot of food has been bothering me. I was thinking about trying some protein shakes to make sure I get in the good stuff I need.
I usually can't drink the already made shakes since there is skim milk in many of them, so I would need a powder that I can mix with water or something.. and please let me know if there are any good tasting ones! I like the way the vanilla and strawberry slimfasts taste, they just hurt my stomach!

Hey,
I use a whey protein from Optimum Nutrition that I like. I personally mix it with skim and water, but you can easily do water alone if the milk bothers you (or if you like soy milk, I hear that's pretty good with it). I know you can get it at GNC or similar places. Good taste and relatively cheap (which puts it ahead of the stuff they sell at Target and Wal-Mart which is just cheap :)).
This is the nutritional info for the Chocolate: 130 cal, 1.5g fat, 4g carbohydrates, 1g sugar, and 24g protein.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info! Do they make it in other flavors besides chocolate? I'll look it up online to check it out soon.
I can actually drink Lactaid milk just fine, so I can mix that in if you think it tastes best with both milk and water. They make their own version of skim.

Yes, it comes in Choc, Vanilla, Strawberry, Cookies & Cream, Fruit Punch, and Choc Mint. They usually have other flavors that they rotate in and out, but I know those are the "standards".
Yes, I would highly recommend mixing it with Lactaid. You can do it with just water, but it's a little too thin for me. If you want to go all-out (and don't mind the extra calories) throw a frozen banana and some ice in a blender with the lactaid (1/2 cup), water (1 cup), and the powder. Perfect smoothies that are pretty quick and easy to make.

Sounds good! I'll have to try that sometime. Thanks for all of your help.

I like Designer Whey which can be purchased at GNC. I buy it in Chocolate Caramel, and it's delicious! I sometimes mix it with 1% milk and it makes for a creamy shake. Other times I'll mix it with water. It's kind of thin, but it still tastes good, if you don't mind a watery drink.
Each serving is only 120 calories, and packs 20g of protein. I usually take three a day toward my goal of 190g of protein a day.
