Wow am I getting zapped at the top of my breast at the edge of my sternum ( shock like pain). I have really bad sore spots there also and when I move my arms I get zapped even more, this is the 2 nd day in a row for them.
About a year ago I was getting really hard zaps that I was yelling ouch with each one, they went from the area right below my collar bone from one side to the other, I ended up on the ER after 18 hours of continious zaps was dxed as costo. These are not as bad and wax and wan during the day but my sternum is really sore.
Strange thing is my husband had by-pass surgery 5 months ago and is getting the same chest things I do. Soreness at different areas, entire rib pain and zappers. He thinks we caught a bug, well gee If I have a bug it sure is lasting long, 22 years of fm.

hi linda,
so sorry you are hurting. when i get costo it does a similar thing. zaps that take my breath away and a sternum nobody better touch!
have you called your doctor?
how is that sweet man of yours. aside from goofy comments. giggle. what does his doc say about his?
red tail hovered over the house yesterday morning. riding the currents. i think it must be fun to fly.
love and huggies,

Hey Blue,
No Blue did not call my Dr, I am tired of being poked and prodded I leave with more pain. Just using my heat packs.
Cliff's cardio says it is all muscle and nerve pain he is getting but he is having a hard time accepting this with knowing he has another stent and a 60% blockage.
he thinks after 5 months he should be healed.
That hawk is keeping his eye on you so you better be a good girl.
Maybe we all have a bug. The fm bug.
Hugs, Linda

Not sure what you mean about zaps but I am now convinced my mom had fibro and I know I have it and I have pains right above my breasts, on the plate there that sometimes is very painful to the touch and hurts like I pulled the muscles. It became much more obvious for my mom after surgery for lung cancer. If I take my mag/malic acid supplement, it helps.

Hiya Linda,
Yes I know the zap and feel for you. The only thing works for me is injections into my rib cage. Maybe you could discuss this with your doctor.
Quietly saying this now - shush - Cliff has a long way to go until he gets relief in the chest area after his heart surgery. Mine has been 3 1/2 years and I still have problems. The nerve tenderness - the tingling and feelings of numbness - will be there all of the time apparently, because of the work done inside of the chest. Just what my cardio told me.
Take care

Hi, Postie, I changed your name. Easier to remeber, lol.
The zaps are quick sharp pains, I can get one and none for weeks or get them all day. I get the pain on the breast plate both sides also. My breasts feel really heavy with that, like they are going down to my feet. If you would see me you would get a laugh out of that statement.
Golden, I did tell Cliff. I wish he would have talked to other guys in rehab, but he is quite. He did discuss this with his cardo who said it is all normal. Two of the guys he was in rehab with he knows well, worked for years with both. I know when I can come here discuss my pain and others repond it makes me feel better, even if it is just them sending me a hug.
Love, Linda

I am 21 years old and get this pretty well 24/7 for the past 2 years. The doctors have said Costo and/or a torn peck muscle. I have tried a lot of stuff in order to just make the pain go away but nothing works. I have been on anti-inflammitory, pain killers, shots through my chest and into my rib cage to see if it would help with pain and swelling, yoga, pilates, and other streches. I was advised not to lift anything above 20 pounds but I don't have much of a choice but to lift because my son just turned 2 and needs help onto the bus and into the car and such and sometimes help up to our apartment on the 3rd floor. I find it hard to even do housework sometimes because the pain is just so bad. Hopefully some of us can overcome this but I heard once you have it that it doesn't go away for a lot of people. :(
