I have an almost 7 month old son with "mild to moderate" plagiocephaly. In the back of his head, he has rounding at the top and bottom - but his head is pretty flat right in the middle. His ped has recommended physical therapy to treat, but also mentioned that we could consider the helmet - although it is usually recommended for more severe cases (he has no facial distortion or asymmetry, etc.) - she thinks it could be helpful in my son's case, as well.
Anyone have experience with either of these treatments for mild/moderate plagiocephaly? I want to make the best choice for him and would love the advice. Most internet stuff gives the pros and cons of each and I'm having a hard time wading through all of the information.

Sorry to hear about your trials and tribulations and I hope you find some good info. I don't have any experience with what you are describing, but I can imagine that it can get frustrating trying to connect with others that are in a similar situation.
Have you considered a second opinion by a medical professional? Maybe that would help you with all the info...
Good luck!

Hi there, my son did not have this, buthe did have torticollis, which sometimes goes hand in hand. We did PT for about 6 months, and he turned out to be just fine. He also had very very little asymmetry, and that did go away as well. I would get a second opinion if it is that mild. Wearing a helmet is kind of a last ditch effort, probably not needed in your case.
