After failing all the high protein, low carb, low fat, high fiber diets I finally realized you need just a little bit of all those in your diet from what I've read on these boards.
So I'm starting a 1500 calorie diet today. I hope I succeed this time because this is the last diet for me or I don't know what I'll do maybe have to starve myself if this one doesn't work. I'm going to be drinking plenty of water, eating fruits, strength training, and a little cardio too. So wish me luck!

Good for you! Without your stats it's hard to tell, but just be careful that you don't eat too little calories (sounds weird, I know). Congrats on going with the balanced diet approach. Give it some time and I think you'll see some good results.
Good luck!

thanks, I'll keep you guys posted on how I'm doing. So far I've turned down foods that I'm not supposed to eat.. burritos and pizza. I love them but I know great things will come when I'm done with this diet.

Junior ive been on every diet known to mankind. I had a lightbulb moment in January I told myself this was it and I have to lose the weight. The difference is this time I'm doing it for my health instead of trying to losing 20 lbs in a month by starving myself. I used to be an all or nothing dieter. If I didn't lose 10 lbs in a week I would go binge and give it up. So this time I decided to start slow and smart and try to learn from my mistakes. The first week I cut out sugars and refined carbs. The second week I worked on portion control. It's been 5 weeks and I've"only" lost 5 lbs but ive done it without starving myself. Give yourself time to adjust, dont starve yourself or it will never work. Another thing I'm doing is eating every 3 hours. If I dont I start obsessing and craving "bad" things. That has been the key for me to not get hungry. Also getting off refined foods will keep you from cravings. Take your time this isn't a sprint but a marathon. Ive never been a patient person so this has been hard to learn. This time I'm telling myself this might take a whole yr to do ( I need to lose 40 lbs). I think I will loook better for it to. The skin and body will have time to adjust. I also have one "free" meal a week on sunday. Something I really enjoy. It gives me the sense I'm not being deprived and I look forward to it. It works for me. It's not about willpower it's all about choices. It's not easy and you won't be perfect but thats ok as long as you keep trying!! Remember it will take at least 3 weeks to feel like this has become a habit. So stay with it and it will get easier I promise! Consistency is the key!!

Jody2U gave some sound advice. Don't do anything drastic. Another thing that many people forget is that if you eat something you didn't intend, it doesn't mean you've blown it for the day, so don't make the damage worse by downing a whole pizza. It's a lot easier to walk a little more or whatever to burn off one piece of pizza than to burn off a binge, but if you do binge, just start afresh the next day. One day at a time is the best way to do it. Kudos on exercising because it's so good for you, and it's probably the most important factor in losing/ maintaining weight.

wow u really gave some good words there. Thanks. I agree with you 100%. I also forgot to add that I'm not going to be eating dinner past 7:30. I used to eat dinner around 9. And also I'm going to be drinking 2 cups of grean tea everyday. I heard that that helps you lose weight.

It cannot fail if you count the calories precisely. It WILL be the last diet you ever need and will form the basis for weight control that will serve you your whole life. You will eventually be able to determine exactly what you want to weigh and adjust the calories to get there and stay there.
Fifteen hundred is a good place to start to get rapid weight loss.

Hang in there Junior77, at 1500 calories daily you should see great results at the scales, let that be a motivator for you and keep on going. and remember were all on diets most of our lives, we have to to stay in good health and I want to live to be at least 125...;)
