Hi all,
I just find out that the Lemon is extremely Alkaline food. I am not
sure that I am reading. I always thought Lemon is Acidic.

Is this true?

I'm confused about the whole acid/alkaline thing myself. I know lemon is acidic, but I think the alkaline thing is the response your body has to it.
Anybody else know??
Edit:
...ok...checked that link you gave...it definitely refers to the response your body makes to the acidic food. I still don't understand it though ;)

Lemon, orange, lime, all "acidic".
The only way I can make sense of this is perhaps they use an absolutist view of the foods rather than relative.
Perhaps lemon, et al, just barely make the official "base/alkaline" side with a 7.2 pH, while blueberries are just barely officially acidic at 6.7 pH.
The difference may be that we feel 1 is actually more acidic than another. And maybe that is because of other factors in the food, such as sugars, salts, etc. Maybe we feel lemons are more acidic because they contain less sugar than blueberries? (Not stating any facts here, just hypotheticals!)
I'd agree with apples and bananas, generally being "alkaline".

Bananas are only alkline if they are barely ripe, the riper they get, the more acidic they are. As for lemons, limes etc...they are alkaline when they get to your stomach. May people are on an alkaline diet and take the DGL licorice before eating to coat the throat. This helps because they sometimes burn if you have LPR..he DGL does work if used correctly. It is not easy to understand, but I have been doing a lot of reading and this is the consensus. There are alot of folks that have cured themselves with this method. I am trying, the DGL is helpful but it is still a really bumpy road. I ate a very small amout of chocolate pudding today and it is killing me...
There are some great websites regarding an alkaline diet and the effects.
Anyway, best of luck! :)

Hi Snowflake...You must take it before meals and at bedtime...15 - 20 minutes before if possible. Also, you need to let it slowly disolve in your mouth and that way it will coat your throat. I don't really love the flavor, but I tolerate it, at first it gagged me. If you just chew it up, it doesn't have the full effect of coating the throat and stomach. You also need to be pretty consistent and try not to stress, because stress totally causes it to flare up! Alot of articles say it has the same effect as Zantac... It has been helpful to me...But like I said before this whole GERD/LPR thing really sucks...it has been a really bumpy road. I am working on the alkaline diet, but it is really strict... I have 2 small children and a husband who is a picky eater as well so it is hard. Good Luck, I hope this helps you!
