View Full Version : Phlebotomy works!

When I went in to the Center for my 12th weekly blood dump I got sent home untapped. It seems my readings were all in the normal range. Now we have to see how long they stay there. I started with an HCT of 65 and it required 5 1/2 liters of phlebotomy to get it down to 40, so I suspect I'll be visiting my darling Vampira there at least every month or so.
.
Here's a laugh: An acquaintance at church confessed that she thought my Polycythemic ruddy cheeks and flaming nose were the result of alcoholism. I explained to her that since I have about half Scotch ancestry I don't get alcoholism, I give it. I did, however, celebrate my HCT day with a few drams of a 30-year old, single malt, single cask liquid gold.

I'm going in today for my first follow-up blood test after breaking the 45 HCT barrier. Should I flunk it I only hope my dear Vampira has a steadier hand than usual. Last time I swear the first jab sent the needle out the back of my elbow.

I scored 41.4 on HCT which should hold Vampira at bay for at least three weeks.
.
Meanwhile I will braid up a huge garlic necklace, get one of those big hand-held crosses that always work in the old horror movies and see where I can buy some of those big torches the the townspeople bring to scare away the undead.
.
Get 'er done.
