I am bottle feeding my DD, she is 6 days old. She is bottle crazy. Whenever she is awake she wants to eat. She is doing about 3 ozs every 2 hrs. At night she goes 5 hrs and then 3 or 4 hours. My DS was drinking about 2.5 ozs every 3 hrs at this age. DD is constantly rooting and always looking for food. She screams when we try to burp her and then she won't burp or she will eat so much she throws up. Or she gets through 1 oz and falls asleep and chokes on whats in her mouth. She is a little over 7 lbs right now. I think she is eating quite a bit. But I would like to get her on a schedule instead of always eating whenever she is awake.

My advice...don't worry about schedules at one week old. Her metabolism is fast and she was used to "eating" on demand for nearly a year inside of you. :) I'm not really familiar with formula feeding issues, but FOR SURE you breastfeed on demand at this age. It will not create bad habits later...it's just too early for that.

Also, you compare your 2 children's amounts...I wonder if boy vs girl might mean differences? All babies are different anyway. AND, if you do the math of the total amount of oz they eat in a day, isn't it close to the same? 3 oz every 2 hrs vs. 2.5 oz every 3 hours?? For a 12 hour period the 1st amount would be 18 oz and the 2nd amount would be 10 oz.
