I am a 20 year old female, and I've been bulimic for years now. I only usually throw up after large quantities of intake ( binges) but have learned to keep smaller things down. However over the course of about a week. I have been throwing up everything I eat or drink. And it's not with nausea... i feel completely fine before and after. I was thinking yah my bodies so used to just getting rid of it, that it does... however I am severely dehydrated from it. And I've lost more weight then i need to. My doctor has me on prilosec 40 mg a day, and i've been on that for quite awhile. I mentioned it to my general practicioner, who put me Phenagran, however it doesn't help at all and I am dying here... I wouldn't normally complain, however I go through this cycle. Where I'm so thirsty, so I'll drink only to throw myself over the toilet 5 seconds later and then I'll get so thirsty again. Even at this moment I'm on my 10th round of drink, throw up, drink, throw up. And its horrible. I can't stop. Does anyone know what causes this? And how on earth I can stop it. Because if i don't stop it now, I'm going to end up getting stuck with an IV and i hate those things...

hi aub, so sorry to hear of your difficulties. i know firsthand, the hell that eating disorders can cause. i also know the lonely isolation of people not understanding that it's a disease, not a character flaw. i hope you are in therapy. anyhow, have you had an endoscopy done by a gi doc? i really think its warranted - you could have an ulcer or hernia or esophageal spasms. not to worry you - most things are correctable, but you really should be seen by a good gi doc. the prilosec could also be making things worse. there's alot of good info on this board so i suggest reading through some of the old threads. hang in there - life will get better for you.

I would definitely speak to a doctor. This could become a worse problem with the dehydration. I don't really know what could be causing you to vomit like this aside from a stomach bug- viral or bacterial.
I guess this could be related to the Prilosec, but it seems severe by what you've described. I'd definitely get a doctor's opinion or a second opinion if the first doctor can't help.

Hi, sorry about your troubles. This may be better to post in the DIGESTIVE DISORDERS board on this site, because that's more general.

Sounds like it could be anything, but I would be concerned about what the bulimia is causing itself (never mind separate gastritis, gastroparesis, etc). Definitely go to a doctor and don't wait for patients on a message board!

Okay I'll ask about it in the digestive disorders one. It's hard for me to get "second opinions" because I'm in college and it was the campus doctor that gave me Phenergan. It's just hard to find time and the fact that I'm so far away from my normal family doctor. I do have an eating disorder team, but I won't see my doctor involved in that till March. Meanwhile I am still throwing up everything I consume. the girl that lives with me, who doesn't know about the eating disorder, but has heard me over the course of a week throwing up all the time said "why don't you just not eat". I guess that would solve the problem of throwing up everything i eat. However I have quite a large appetite... and "just not eating" doesn't solve anything for me...
