View Full Version : Help Before Doctor Appt

I have dealt with asthma in the past and went through years where I didn't have to take any medication or use my inhaler.. but now I'm feeling it again. I have a doctor's appointment this Friday to get a new inhaler and get the doctor to listen to my breathing, etc.

Anyway, I feel like tonight I've been struggling more than usual. I skipped working out tonight b/c I honestly feel like I would be scared of how my breathing would be. I keep having to cough very hard to keep my throat from feeling tight and after every cough I'm gasping for air. I'm trying to avoid the coughing and just try to relax and not do anything that causes me to breathe hard.. Is there anything I can do meanwhile to help? I have been dealing with anxiety lately so it isn't helping.. I'm just trying to stay calm.

Hi

The things I can suggest is try to concentrate on breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. I know it is hard but it may help. There are breathing exercises that help asthma that your doctor may be able to tell you about. The other thing I find that helps is a bath that may just relax you. I can relate totally to breathing problems because I have had alot of trouble with my asthma in the last few years. I hope this may help you. Good Luck.

Thanks I'll definitely give that a try.. last night I was just feeling pretty bad and luckily it's already getting better today! I can't wait to go in to the doctor and get it taken care of.

I'll try the bath for sure tonight after work and classes.. I was going to do that last night but my shower had only ICE COLD water! I'm going over to my boyfriend's tonight so I can take a good bath there!!
