Any feed back would be greatly appreciated..
I have clear/yellowish discharge from my left breast. This occurs when touched or squeezed.
I had a mamogram that came back negative, but my GP is now sending me to a specialist who I see on Feb 27th.
He is sending my mamogram and prolactin levels with me to the appt.

Thank you for reading my post.

Were your prolactin normal? You probably know this is secreted by the pituitary. It is often a cause of benign breast discharge. If it was at normal levels than they would need to look elsewhere. I would guess the next thing would be a ductogram. Sometimes benign papillomas will grow in a duct and give this symptom. It is good nothing showed on your mammogram. The only color of discharge that has alway been benign (that I am familiar with ) is green or milkey. Clear or yellow should be checked out as well as black or red. Keep in mind the majority of times breast discharge turns out to be a benign process BUT it should always be checked out.
Good luck with the specialist and I hope all comes out well.

Yes the prolactin levels were normal.
Im wondering if an antidepressant EffexerXR would effect the pituitary,do you know?

Sorry I do not know.
Did they send a sample of the discharge to cytology?

Seems like you're getting a lot of good feedback. What type of specialist is your GP sending you to?

Did you have a screening mammogram and was it bumped up to a diagnostic?

I had bloody discharge from my left nipple a little over a year ago. I had a mammogram, a sonogram, and a ductogram. The ductogram showed a fill which means there was something in the duct. I had the duct surgically removed and the biopsy results indicated an intraductal papilloma which is a benigh grrowth in the duct. None of the tests was difficult. The surgery was outpatient. I had it on Thursday am and was back at work the following Monday. The scar is very hard to see and the appearance of my breast is as before. It's important to follow through with your physician on nipple discharge but accordining to my research over the Internet, only 10% of the cases of bloody discharge from a single nipple results in a diagnosis of cancer.

YES!.......... I do dark green (L) nipple discharge. I went to see my GYN today and he took a slide sample. I am absolutely scared to death.... I am literally shaking all over. I have to wait until after Easter for my Mammo and Ultrasound. Waiting is so hard. I have had discharge since my son was born 8 years ago, but now it's only in the left nipple and is now a very dark green color. GYN said he feels it's fibrocystic changes. But in only one breast? I'm confused.

Last year my Mammo was (-) but my ultrasound was positive for a lump. I had it removed, and thankfully it was a fibro adenoma.

Signed,
Wendy (just scared)

NewYrBaby,
I would try to relax. Green is a GOOD color to have for nipple discharge. It usually means an infection. Have they given you any antibotics? Sounds like your doc has sent it to cytology so that should give you some ideas soon.

HI :)

I had a green-black discharge from both my breasts for years. It was related to my fibrocystic disease and was never a problem. I finally quit telling docs about it cuz they all said the same thing. I had had cytology testing done on it but can't remember the results Its probably been more than 10 years ago.

Hope you have found out something since you initially posted :)

Best wishes!
Linda
