I have IBS was diagnosed in 2000. I have been putting off a colonscopy but the time has come I guess. My IBS is very much under control. My question is has everyone here who has IBS had one? If so how was it???? :confused:

hi i was diagnosed with ibs after 2 years of pains and tests. i had a colonoscopy as the final test which found i had an over-sensitive bowel
the colonoscopy was fine as you have an anaesthetic and you are asleep. But the night before they give you laxatives which make you run all the time(be prepared for it). The morning of the colonoscopy my back passage was very red and sore. then the decided to give me a bar- inenimun (think thats how you spell it). to make sure the bowels were completely empty. That wasnt very nice but not sore. hope you dont need that. All in all i think its more embarrasing than anything else, but if you are the same as me you will just be glad that they found out what it was and can give you medication to help it. Good Luck.

they are nothing to worry about... i swear. im 27 and had crohns for 6 years. have had 2 colonscopies and just had an operation before xmas to get some of my intestine removed.
the first colonscopy they wanted me to be awake, so they gave me soemthing to make me a lil sleepy and said i wouldnt remember anything, but i did, was mainly an uncomfortable feeling. my last one i was out cold, which was great

the laxitive is the worst part, by a mile!! everything just goes straight through you. even a glass of water, so it tends to get a lil sore by the end of the day.. but if it helps you, go and get it done!!
