I teach dance, and one of my students has been having a lot of trouble breathing lately. I know she does a lot of physical activity every day between dance class with me (Mon.-Fri.) and at school in athletics. Last month, she went to the doctor and told him of her problems, which had started in sept. He talked with her parents about it all, and we (me and her athletic coach) had to monitor her pulse and breathing pattern for about two weeks. We sent in what we had monitored. Now, she is getting an inhaler to use before activity and as needed.
I guess I am just wondering what exactly we were monitoring, and how he came to the conclusion that it was asthma. I do think she does have it, me being asthmatic, but I just wonder how he figured it was by the monitoring we did.

Thanks, nelldance:wave:

Perhaps to monitor how often, whether her heart rate increases or not. Both would be to know how severe it was. But surely he gave her a pulmonary function test as well.
