hey everybody,
got a question...i have got some big hips & a big butt & i want to know how I can get them smaller if possible! People tell me they are not big but i am very self conscious of them. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Diet and cardio are the ways to lose fat. Your hips and butt may just be your body's favorite storage area (if they really are a trouble area for you.) Any kind of weight or resistance training will tone up the muscle. Try jogging or biking 3 times a week for maybe 30 minutes and see if you notice any difference after a month... but I also challenge you to take an honest, realistic look at your body to decide if you truly need to lose any weight. It's unfortunate, but I see it on this board and everywhere. Women particularly are perpetually unhappy with their bodies. Even if they are the perfect shape for their frame, they feel fat because all around them, there are the "ideal" emaciated icons glorified in every way, and it is not healthy. Now, for all I know, you may actually need to work on some areas, but be as honest as possible with yourself and try not to be too critical. Women are meant to be curvy. =] Good luck!

Thanks for the info Naxis. Since I don't belong to a gym or anything I think I will start running today. I know what you mean by wanting to be the "ideal" shape and I would love that, but recently I think I have gained weight and either nobody wants to admit it to me or they just haven't noticed. Right now I wear a size 5/6 & my main goal is to just drop down to a 3/4. That's not unhealthy is it?? I'm 5'9'' and 19 years old. Please let me know what you think about that.

First, how much do you weigh currently, and second, what kind of bone frame do you have? Those will be major determining factors in what your body _should_ be doing...

Personally i thin a 5/6 is pretty skinny for a female your height, but i have the same prob as you. i think i have huge thighs and butt, even though people tell me they're not big. i run in track and i notice that tones me up, but in order to actually slim down you must exercise AND eat less. hope i helped!

Right now I weigh about 135/140 I guess. I go back and forth between these two. But I'd like to get down to 125/130. I would say I have a medium frame?? Like I said I have big hips & I see myself as having broad shoulders. But I don't really know...I always see myself as being fatter than everyone else.
