I was wondering if anyone else relies on it for anxiety relief. I know it is probably the worst way to go as far as self-medicating, but with no insurance i have come to rely on it for symptom relief, mainly the heart palp kind. Is this making things worse?

its a mask or crutch to cover or boost the panic episodes. your only foolin yerself. with 5 kids, i would buy the insurance and the antidepressives. have a cup of strong black or green tea sitting down - same thing.

You really need to stop drinking don't use it as a crutch. You only feel better temporarily and the you wake up the next day feeling worse. This will escalate and is the reason many anxiety dissorder sufferers end up alcoholics as well. You must learn to battle your anxiety face to face. You can enlist an anxiety dissorder specilist to help you with this as well.

Good luck and quit the booze!
