Hi everyone, I'm not Bi-Polar but have major depression & anxiety. My Psych. just switched me to Cymbalta 60mg.( the anti-deps. weren't helping ). Could you please share your experiences w/this med. Is this a high dose ? Side effects ? Thanks, Mike

The thing we hated most about this med was that it just barllywored for my wife.
It's a shame. Otherwise, we hear that it is a great med.

I am a bit confused why you titled your thread "abilify?" You say you have just been prescribed 60 mg cymbalta, which is a SNRI anti-depressant. It comes in 20, 30 and 60 mg. and is mainly used for depression and anxiety. It usually takes anywhere from a week to a month to know whether it is working for you. I think most people tolerate cymbalta quite well.
Abilify is a fairly new anti-psychotic and is used to control mania.
You might want to post on the anxiety or depression board. You might get more response on one of those boards.

Ok. I was just confused! :confused: My 25-year old son is the one in our family that is bipolar 1. He has been on just about every medication, including abilify. Some people do really well on it, and others do not. There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground, at least among those people I know or have heard of!
My son fell into the group that couldn't take it. Of all the meds he was given, this is the only one he stopped on his own without even consulting his doctor. He literally couldn't stand it after only a couple days...felt like his skin was crawling, and that he was going to jump out of it.
However, there are lots of people on this board right now that take it and haven't had any problems....hopefully they will respond to you with their experiences.

Wow 60mg's...
My Son Is 6ft 190lbs, He Takes 1500mg Of Depakote Along With Abiligy 10mg ( On Abilify Since 7 Months Now). I Just Doulbled Checked It Is 10mg Of Abilify. Abilify Seemed To Work Right Away. I Thing Every One Is Different. My Son Wasn't Sleeping And Had Bad Bad Anxiety. It Has Been Working. He Was On Alot Of Meds In Last 3 Years. He Is Now 16 In Few Days And His Name Is Mike Too.
Also I Am Not Bipolar But Have Had Bad Depression And Anxiety And I Was Put On Psy Meds For Short Times To Help Me.

Abilify has worked great for me...but I didn't know it came in such high doses. :S I'm only on 15mg. so it came as a bit of a shock to me at the dosage...but if it works, great. ^^

Does Abilify blur anyone's vision.

I just looked up the side effects of abilify and blurred vision is one of them. So it can definitely happen.
I really wish I could have stayed on it longer to see if it worked better for me, but I had to get off of it as well due to side effects.

Yes, my son had that problem, too, among other, worse side effects. But many people do really well on it and many of the side effects go away after a couple weeks, if you can hang in there that long!
